    Good Hand Hygiene
At Mary Washington Hospital, we require that all caregivers wash their hands with soap and water or use an alcohol hand sanitizer. This simple act of hand hygiene is very effective at reducing the number of germs on the skin.

    What can you do?

It's OK to Ask: As a patient, be an active participant in your health care team and help prevent the spread of infection. In fact hand hygiene should be performed by everyone - even visitors.

Remember, It's OK to Ask. Every time hospital staff members or visitors enter your room, ask them to perform hand hygiene.
